Integrate IPFS with WP Smart Contracts

Secure and Resilient File Storage

What is IPFS?

The Interplanetary File System (IPFS) is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file storage network that uses content-addressing to store and retrieve files. This means that files are stored and indexed based on their content, rather than their physical location. This makes IPFS a more resilient and distributed file storage system than traditional centralized file storage systems.

Benefits of Integrating IPFS with WP Smart Contracts

There are many benefits to integrating IPFS with WP Smart Contracts, including:

Decentralized file storage This makes them more secure and avoid a single point of failure.

🚀

Faster file transfers: IPFS uses a distributed network of nodes to store files, which can improve file transfer speeds.

💰

Reduced bandwidth costs: IPFS can help to reduce bandwidth costs by caching files on local nodes.

🔐

Enhanced security: IPFS uses cryptographic techniques to secure files, making them more resistant to tampering.

How to Integrate IPFS with WP Smart Contracts

IPFS storage in WP Smart Contracts works through pinata.cloud. After installing the plugin:

  • Create a pinata.cloud account and generate a JWT (secret access token). Make sure you have enough storage space.
  • Open Smart Contracts Dashboard → Admin Setup Wizard and paste the key in the IPFS settings.
  • Optionally check Always use IPFS for all WordPress uploads, and set the max file size and the max number of files a user can upload.

Once the integration is configured, you can start uploading files to IPFS. To do this, simply upload the file to your WordPress media library as usual. When you upload the file, you will see an option to "Upload to IPFS". Click on this option to upload the file to the IPFS network.

Integrating IPFS with WP Smart Contracts is a great way to improve the security, performance, and resilience of your WordPress website. By storing your files on the decentralized IPFS network, you can protect your files from censorship and tampering, and improve file transfer speeds.
